Women's Hi-Vis Workwear
Women's hi-vis workwear has to clear two bars at once: the measured area for EN ISO 20471, and a fit that women will actually wear on site. Most of the market sells a graded-down men's garment that clears the first and fails the second. We pattern women's hi-vis on a women's block and then verify the fluorescent and retroreflective area on that block, so the class holds without the fit being sacrificed.

The compliance trap in women's hi-vis
Here is the problem most suppliers quietly get wrong.
Shaping a garment to fit a woman typically removes fabric from the torso — princess seams, a narrower shoulder, a shaped waist. Every square centimetre removed comes out of the fluorescent background area that EN ISO 20471 measures. A women's jacket patterned by simply narrowing a men's block can drop below the 0.50 m² required for Class 2, and the certificate will not be issued.
The usual industry workaround is to keep the garment boxy so the area is safe. That is why so much women's hi-vis on the market fits badly: the box is doing compliance work that the pattern should be doing.
How we handle it
- We calculate the fluorescent and retroreflective area on the women's pattern before it is cut, not after
- Where shaping removes area, we add it back with panel design, tape width or a combined-performance material — not by removing the shaping
- Certification samples are made on the women's block, in the production fabric, with the production tape
- If a design cannot reach the class you need, we tell you at quotation stage instead of after sampling

Questions buyers ask
Does a women's hi-vis garment certify to the same class as the men's?
It can, but only if the fluorescent and retroreflective area still meets the minimum after shaping. We verify this on the women's pattern before cutting, and adjust panel design or tape width to hold the class.
What is the MOQ for women's custom hi-vis workwear?
400 pcs per colour with sizes mixed within that colour. Styles sharing one fabric platform can often share the minimum.
Do you use a real women's pattern?
Yes. Shoulder slope, bust and waist shaping, hip and sleeve rotation are drafted separately from the men's block.
Can we add our company logo?
Yes. We position logos outside the measured fluorescent area, or size them so the area stays compliant. Logo placement inside the measured zone is the most common cause of a failed certification.
Do you offer EN 343 rainwear as well?
Yes. Where a garment needs both high visibility and rain protection we test to EN 343 alongside EN ISO 20471.
How long does certification take?
